About

I was born in Moscow, Russia, in a family of nuclear physics scientist, and was an artist as early as I remember myself. In kindergarten I painted pictures of princesses for my fellow "inmates" in exchange for goods and services. After attending Moscow Art College, I went to Moscow University and have obtained MS degree in electrical engineering, then spent about 20 years working in the computer industry.
When in 2004 I've got a chance to stop doing engineering for living and change my career, I decided to fulfill my dream and became a full time artist.

Now I live in Woodside, California, work in my home studio.  I am  a member of Oil Painters of America and Pacific Art league.

My style is a balance between traditional representational painting and impressionism, based on my desire to create harmonious feeling of peacefulness and beauty. I strongly believe in the importance of positive emotions in our stressful lives, and I hope that my art evokes feelings of peace, happiness and well being in those who view it.

I'm especially intrigued by the light capturing. When I catch the sunlight to my painting it makes me happy.
Also I try to add a "soul" to my animal portraits. I believe that animals are not so different from humans, they have souls, emotions and thoughts, they have unique personalities.

My most preferred media is oil on canvas. I love how different layers of paint on canvas create that very special way of reflecting light and thus unique color impression and depth. I love the texture of oil paints, the challenge each painting gives me, and the feeling of fulfillment when I finish new painting.
